The National Father’s Day Committee this week honored five exceptional men at the 70th Annual Father of the Year Awards luncheon, held at the New York Sheraton Hotel & Tower.
Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit Save the Children, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making a lasting positive change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world.
Master of Ceremonies, Mark Shriver, political activist and Senior Vice President of Save the Children’s U.S. Programs, presented the 2011 Father of the Year Awards. This year’s honorees include:
- Jim Boeheim, Head Coach, Men’s Basketball, Syracuse University
- Geoffrey Canada, President & CEO, Harlem Children’s Zone
- Brendan Hoffman, President & CEO, Lord & Taylor
- Randall Stephenson, Chairman & CEO, AT&T
- Amar� Stoudemire, Captain, New York Knicks
“We are delighted to honor this remarkable group of men as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Father of the Year Awards,” said Stuart M. Goldblatt, President of the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council and Chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee and Executive Vice President of Macy’s Merchandising Group, Chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee. “Each honoree has served as a role model and inspiration to their children throughout their accomplished careers, continuously maintaining a balanced work and home life through their dedication, leadership and contributions to their community.”
As part of its commitment to support meaningful philanthropies dealing with issues affecting mothers, fathers and children, the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Inc. has donated nearly $24 million to date to meaningful charities nationwide.
All Star Dad Award
The National Father’s Day Committee, along with Men’s Health Magazine and the Sani Family Foundation, also honored 2011’s All Star Dad winner, Robert Evans of Simpsonville, Kentucky. This award recognizes a special father who continuously goes above and beyond in not only his commitment to his own children, but to his community and those children needing positive role models to guide and support their growth and development.
